Persistent Ground Surveillance Systems

NASC’s principal area of expertise lies in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) as employed in Persistent Ground Surveillance Systems (PGSS). Operations in Iraq and Afghanistan demonstrated an urgent requirement for a low-cost, responsive and persistent ISR system capable of elevating electronic payloads to an altitude of a few thousand feet above base camps, dispersed forces, convoys, and cleared roadways. These payloads offer advanced warning of incoming personnel or impending threats and are a proven cost-effective force multiplier in lieu of additional ground security. Since 2010 NASC has supported PGSS systems for multiple DOD, Government, and Commercial Organizations as a standalone ISR platform or as a part of ISR systems integrated with unattended ground sensors as well as manned and unmanned airborne collection platforms.

As a prime PGSS Contractor NASC has been coordinating engineering, procurement, assembly, testing, staffing, and OCONUS deployment of 60 PGSS aerostat systems and over 400 personnel. The success of these programs has been NASC's demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and support the operators required for specific deployment operations.

Deployed Operations in Threat Environments

NASC operates the PGSS system as an ISR collection suite to collect raw information and data in a target enriched environment for interpretation, dissemination and action. NASC operators are highly skilled and experienced in the use of the PGSS system and its subsystems for challenging, remote operations.

Program Management & Configuration Management

NASC provides PGSS program management with planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closing project processes. We continuously employ systems engineering processes for establishing and maintaining consistency by evaluating operational and performance matrixes.

PGSS Engineering Support and Integration

Deployed aerostats are subject to destructive operating conditions. NASC operators work consistently to keep aerostats aloft and mission ready 24/7 by providing highly technical engineering services including maintenance, field repair, troubleshooting, advanced system analysis, and payload integration.

Logistics and Personnel Requirements

NASC logistics personnel package and deploy PGSS equipment meeting all HAZMAT, DOD and export requirements from CONUS locations to multiple international operational detachments. Our employees receive all deployed training prerequisites including security clearances.

Sub System Maintenance and Spares Procurement

Experienced and knowledgeable NASC staff members perform field evaluations and on-site repairs with minimal to no mission loss at remote FOBs with assistance from our extensive vendor supply network.

PGSS Training

PGSS operators ensure safety 24/7 for mission operations and maintain battle space superiority and situational awareness. Training conducted by NASC instructors ensure contractors, DoD, or government representatives exceed operational proficiencies to achieve deployed mission objectives. All NASC PGSS Instructors are previously deployed operators capable of teaching multiple aerostat platforms and sensor payloads. They also receive vendor certifications on software, hardware, equipment, and payload systems.
